Certification is required by law for manufacturing of pressure equipment off category II. Certification of the global standard for packaging materials
(BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 6, August 2019 will be replaced on April 28, 2025 by BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7, October 2024)

Product safety within the value added chain of manufacturing food products is gaining more and more importance and is making an essential part of the requirements of customers to the manufacturers of food packaging. By implementation of the standard and with subsequent certification, manufacturers of food packaging are experiencing support by assurance of product safety, quality and legal compliance. The duty of care is fulfilled by an optimized hygiene management and by maintenance of «good manufacturing practice». Risks of contamination are controlled and safe packaging for food products is reliably provided.

Outcome

SODK OST+

External audit of institutions for the disabled
SODK OST+ loses its validity on July 31th, 2028. From August 1st 2025, only certifications according to SODK-OST+:2023 can be conducted. All information on the revision can be found on the SODK-OST+:2023 website.

Incentive

The restructuring of fiscal equalisation and the division of duties between the Swiss Confederation and the cantons (NFA) came into force on 1 January 2008. Thanks to the reorganisation of responsibilities pertaining to the Swiss Confederation, the cantons have gained increased autonomy but at the same time taken over responsibility for the funding and quality assurance of facilities for the disabled. The quality guidelines of the SODK OST+ are the most frequently used instrument of quality assurance in German-speaking Switzerland.

Outcome

Certification with the aid of the quality guidelines of the SODK OST+ forms the foundation for continual improvement and development at the level of the organisation and infrastructure, personnel and management, as well as client and professional standards. In some cantons, the SODK OST+ certificate is a prerequisite for performance agreements.

Target groups

Organisations for people with disabilities, such as care homes, sheltered accommodation, workshops and day centres.

Validity

Three years - for the purposes of continual further development, a surveillance audit takes place once a year and after three years a recertification audit.

Recognition

The requirements of cantonal supervisory authorities relating to internal and external audits vary. The responsible cantonal local authority is exclusively in a position to specify whether or not an external certification by SQS according to SODK OST+ is recognised.

Combinations

SODK OST+ can be expanded with ISO 9001 (Quality management), ISO 14001 (Environmental management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) to become a process-orientated and integrated management system, which creates comprehensive added value.

With IN-Qualis:2018, the Swiss Association for Work Integration provides a quality management system that was specifically created to ensure and develop quality in the field of work integration services.

Outcome

IN-Qualis:2018 offers modular elements with the help of which work integration organisations can establish and operate a quality management system.
IN-Qualis:2018 supports the organisations in demonstrating professional quality and economic efficiency in their activities when dealing with official clients, participating- and assigning expert bodies as well as with the general public.

Target groups

Work integration organisations support people with special needs in social integration and integration into the labour market or a training place. The objective is to (re-)establish, improve or maintain employability.
The content of the offers may vary: Internal work opportunities such as workshops, internal operations, studios, group programs, assignments in external companies, individual counselling/job coaching, training opportunities.
These services are provided in different areas where the quality standard can be applied: Unemployment insurance, disability- and accident insurance, social assistance and migration.

For pressure equipment from category II, which falls under the Pressure Equipment Ordinance, the manufacturer must undergo a conformity assessment procedure. SQS, as a notified body for pressure equipment (NB 1250), verifies compliance with the essential safety requirements and supports the manufacturer from the design to the final inspection during the manufacturing of pressure equipment.

Outcome

DGR Internal production control with supervised pressure equipment checks at random intervals ensures expert- and customer-oriented services and solutions, qualified suppliers as well as risk and cost minimisation.

The conformity assessment attestation according module A2 is valid for one year.

Recognition

SQS is an accredited inspection body (type A) in the technical field of pressure equipment in accordance with SR 930.114 Ordinance on the Safety of Pressure Equipment (Pressure Equipment Ordinance, PED) (Directive 2014/68/EU on the making available on the market of pressure equipment) for internal production control with supervised pressure equipment checks at random intervals Annex III - Module A2. SQS is a notified body with the identification number 1250 for all product categories that fall under the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. The SQS certificate for pressure equipment is internationally recognized.
