Safety in adventures

Certification of safety systems in outdoor and adventure activities
(The certification by SQS is not offered any longer. Existing certificates stay valid until the end of their validity.)

Incentive

The law governing the supply of mountain guide services and other high-risk activities (RiskV) is still under consultation and will probably enter into force in January 2013, stipulating mandatory certification for firms specialising in canyoning, white-water rafting and bungee jumping. The certificate will also be an advantage for firms offering other sports in that they will have fewer bureaucratic hurdles to overcome when seeking permission from cantons to run their businesses.

Outcome

Safety is clearly the top priority of the management. The label demonstrates to customers, employees, public authorities, insurance companies and third parties that the risks have been assessed and that effective measures are taken to reduce the risks.

Target groups

Commercial providers of high-risk services and outdoor activities.

Validity

3 years - there is an annual audit to ensure that standards are being maintained and a recertification audit every 3 years.

Recognition

The SQS certificate of conformity with Safety in adventures has national recognition.

Combinations

Safety in adventures can be combined with ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety assessment series).
