Quality Statement Climate Services
SQS is dedicated to advance the basic principles of the Rio Declaration on Environment
and Development by ensuring that its services follow the concept of sustainable development, i.e. in
the spirit of global partnership to conserve, protect and restore the health and integrity of the earth's
ecosystem. As stated in its own mission statement, SQS is committed to foster its own
sustainable success.
Climate change mitigation projects – irrespective of the standard to be fulfilled
– are scrutinized against sound and equitable principles of economic, environmental and social dimensions,
thus assuring their sustainable contribution not only to the ultimate objective of the UN Framework
Convention on Climate Change but also to effective sustainable development in the host countries, as
required under the Kyoto Protocol.
SQS climate service auditors are environmental management system auditors licensed
in accordance with ISO 17021 with professional competence in their specific area of specialization and
additional expertise needed for our climate services. SQS climate service auditors are not involved
in any commercial, financial or other operations which might influence their independence of judgment
and integrity in relation to their validation/verification and other climate services activities.
All our personnel – regardless of where they perform their services – are obliged
to follow SQS’s ethical values credibility, neutrality, independence, honesty and incorruptibility as
well as SQS's impartiality policy.
Tasks and responsibilities of our climate services are assigned as follows:
In
order to provide our climate services to the utmost satisfaction of all interested parties, we invite
you to send suggestions or comments or to communicate any complaints by using our contact
and complaints form. The procedure for the handling of complaints and for the allocation of responsibilities
is described below.
SQS ensures that all personnel involved in handling
complaints have to adhere to strict confidentiality and are independent of the personnel responsible
for the process/activity against which the complaints have been raised.
Received
complaints are recorded in a complaint-log and are passed to the Member of the Executive Board in charge.
In case the complaint is justified, it is processed, a solution is offered by the Head Climate Services,
the complaint-log is completed and the complaint is added to the management review. In
case of an appeal an independent supervisory committee is involved. Information
