Sustainability is a strategic long-term goal for the SQS itself.
 
Thanks to sound self-financing, the shareholder-independent SQS can be sure of its sustainable success.
In recent years, the SQS has grown continuously in the fields of environmental and social responsibility by means of a customer and market-oriented range of offerings.
Today, a good 25% of requests for certification are in the field of the environment.
The fostering of a corporate culture oriented to motivating, personal development, coupled with above-average social benefits, is part of the implementation of SQS’ social responsibility towards its employees.

SQS has set itself the goal of climate neutral operation as of 2010.

On the one hand, the quantities of greenhouse gases emitted will be progressively reduced:

• as of January 2008, a new mobility concept was implemented in which energy-efficient driving is supported and the use of the public transport sector is promoted;
• as of 2009/10, the share of renewable electricity (currently 60%) will be increased even more through the construction of our own photovoltaic system on the roof of the headquarters building;
• as of May 2007, the SQS printing department has been FSC COC certified, i.e. a good 90% of paper used is from sustainably-managed forests - at least around 10 tonnes per year.

On the other hand, unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions will be offset by investing in climate protection projects which will yield emission reduction credits of the required amount.
