Joint Implementation JI Validation and verification of a JI project
What does the product offer?
JI gives investors
from industrialised countries with emission reduction obligations the possibility to invest in greenhouse
gas reduction projects in other industrialized countries or in transition economies. JI activities generate
emission reduction units which can be traded on the free market. JI projects are to mitigate global
warming in achieving real, measurable and long-term emission reductions; and to contribute to sustainable
development in the host countries through environmental technology transfer.
Target groups Investors who plan to realize
a greenhouse gas reduction project according to the JI guidelines.
Customer's benefit - JI diminishes or prevents greenhouse
gas emissions in industrialized countries or transition economies by running an emission reduction project
- These emission reduction units can be attributed to the investor (country).
- The validation and verification of a JI project by a third party accredited by United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC (Accredited Independent Entity) is required
for the issuance of emission reduction units.
Validity
The
positive validation opinion is a precondition for running the project. The verification of the JI project
is required prior to the issuance of emission reduction units.
