Clean Development Mechanism CDM
Validation, verfication and certification of a CDM project

What does the product offer?

CDM gives investors from industrialised countries with emission reduction obligations the possibility to invest in greenhouse gas reduction projects in developing countries. CDM activities generate emission reduction certificates which can be traded on the free market. CDM projects are to mitigate global warming in achieving real, measurable and long-term emission reductions; and to contribute to sustainable development in the host countries through environmental technology transfer.

Target groups

Investors who plan to realize a greenhouse gas reduction project according to the CDM guidelines.

Customer's benefit

  • CDM diminishes or prevents greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries by running an emission reduction project
  • These emission reduction certificates can be attributed to the investor (country)
  • The validation and verification of a CDM project by an independent body (Designated Operational Entity) accredited by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC is required for the certification of the emission reductions.

Validity

The positive validation opinion is a precondition for running the project. The verification and certification of the CDM project are required prior to issuance of certified emission reductions.
